Meta Declines EU AI Code of Practice

Meta has announced its refusal to sign the European Union's voluntary code of practice for AI, a framework designed to assist companies in adhering to the upcoming AI Act. Joel Kaplan, Meta's chief global affairs officer, expressed concerns that the code introduces legal uncertainties and includes measures extending beyond the scope of the AI Act itself, stating that Europe is "heading down the wrong path on AI." This decision comes shortly before the EU's regulations for general-purpose AI models are set to become effective.
