The son of a British couple, Peter and Barbie Reynolds, who have been detained by the Taliban in Afghanistan for five months, has expressed grave concerns for their lives. Jonathan Reynolds stated that his elderly parents' health is rapidly declining, with his father experiencing severe convulsions and his mother suffering from anemia and malnutrition. The couple, who had lived in Afghanistan for 18 years and ran education projects, including one focused on women and children, were arrested on February 1st. The exact reasons for their detention remain unclear, although a Taliban official had previously indicated they would be released soon. The UN has also voiced alarm, describing their detention conditions as "inhumane" and warning they could die without immediate medical attention.
