Russia's Far East Hit by Earthquake and Tsunami

A powerful undersea earthquake near Russia's Kamchatka peninsula triggered a tsunami warning for the region and parts of Sakhalin Oblast. Severo-Kurilsk on Paramushir island experienced coastal flooding, with a port and fish factory inundated. Fortunately, all residents of Severo-Kurilsk were evacuated, and no casualties have been reported. The earthquake also caused some infrastructure damage in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, including a kindergarten facade, though no injuries occurred as the building was empty. Authorities advised businesses to close and temporarily shut down volcanic parks and trekking routes due to ongoing seismic activity.
