Afghan Returnees from Iran Face Harsh Realities

Afghan women and girls deported from Iran are facing severe restrictions upon their return to Afghanistan. These deportations, affecting over 1.4 million Afghans this year, are causing distress as returnees are stripped of opportunities for education and employment. Under Taliban rule, girls' education is limited past sixth grade, women are barred from most jobs and public spaces, and require male escorts for travel.
