Syria's Sweida Province Sees Deadly Clashes

Renewed sectarian violence between Bedouin groups and Druze militias in Syria's southern Sweida province has resulted in over 50 deaths and more than 150 injuries. The clashes, which began on Sunday, mark a significant challenge to the new Syrian government's authority, which has struggled to unify armed groups since ousting Bashar al-Assad. Druze militias have resisted government control, leading to intense fighting. The Syrian government deployed troops to quell the violence, but 18 soldiers were killed. Reinforcements were sent to protect checkpoints. Israel also intervened, striking Syrian tanks to prevent hostile forces from amassing near its border, issuing a warning to the Syrian government.
