India Orders Boeing Fuel Switch Checks After Fatal Crash

Following a preliminary report on the fatal Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner crash in June, which killed 260 people, India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has mandated inspections of fuel control switches on all Boeing aircraft operated by Indian airlines. This directive follows similar actions already undertaken by some Indian and international carriers. The preliminary report indicated a fuel cutoff to the engines shortly after takeoff. While the US Federal Aviation Administration declared the switches safe, the DGCA's order prioritizes safety checks in response to the devastating accident, one of the worst globally in recent years. The inspections aim to ensure the safe operation of Boeing aircraft within Indian airspace.
